Housed in Honeymoon Guesthouse, not far from Ubud Palace, Casa Luna cooking class is a 7-minute walk away. Casa Luna Cooking School is a cooking class initiated by Janet de Neefe, who is also the founder of the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival.

You will be accompanied by Janet and the Casa Luna crew as well as introduced to the spices and seasonings commonly used in traditional food and culinary roles at Balinese traditional ceremonies.

Casa Luna Cooking Class has a schedule with different themes, from Monday to Sunday.

Schedule of cooking lessons at Casa Luna as follows:

  • Monday, 9.30 a.m to learn fish processed cuisine.
  • Tuesday and Thursday, tour to the traditional market, then at 8 am then the cooking class begins,
  • Wednesday, at 9.30 a.m. Focus on the usual feeding of traditional ceremonies.
  • Thursday and Friday visit Gianyar Night Market at 5 pm.
  • For beginners, they also provided classes on Friday, at 9.30 am.
  • Saturday focuses on food as a remedy with vegan-friendly ingredients.
  • Sunday cooking smoked Duck starting at 5.30 pm.

The classes provided by Casa Luna are priced at IDR 400 K per person.

You will also be guided for the first time by shopping in the traditional market. This way you will know the culture and lifestyle of local people. In this market, the instructor Payuk Bali Cooking Class will explain to you about tastes, habits, food ingredients such as local meats, fish, and vegetables.

Then also find unique ingredients and see the bargaining process that is certainly Balinese style. You will learn the secrets of buying ingredients that are still fresh, what you should choose and should be rejected. Only 10 participants per class

To be more effective, the cooking class is followed by a maximum of 10 participants, the learning process is in English. The participants will be provided with cooking stations and their cooking utensils to prepare and cook their dishes. There are vegetarian and non-vegetarian menus that you can cook.

Some of the dishes that you can cook here are, a vegetarian menu that is, slurry Injin, Sambel ulek, peanut sauce, mushroom pepes, vegetable curry. For non-vegetarian menu, fish, chicken satay, soup be pasih.

Cooking class, starting at 08.30 – 13.00 for morning and 15.00 – 19.30 for the afternoon class. Another service provided by Payuk Cooking Class is to provide a shuttle service to you. Payuk Bali Cooking Class Ubud is located at Jalan Raya Laplapan, Banjar Laplapan, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali.

For those of you who are in the Ubud area, there will be a free shuttle service. The fee to join Payuk Bali Cooking Class is IDR 350,000/participant.
