Why is it important to travel?
It seems like an easy question to answer but I could go forever explaining my personal view on this matter. Instead I have decided to list the main reasons why you should travel and then elaborate a bit more in each one of them. Here are the topics:
- You have enough savings and it is time to enjoy life. Need a break? Life is too short
- Savings for travelling
- You might be thinking “I can’t even pay my monthly bills, how can I afford travelling?”
In most cases what people need is just good planing! You should see your travel plans as a bill to be paid by the end of the month! Yes, set some money to be used in the near future. $100 a month equals to $1200! And this amount can take you from the US to Europe, for example. Can’t do that? What about going for a weekend to visit some friends who live in a different state? The point here is that you need to travel regardless the amount of money you have to spend.
Need a break?
We all do! And we all need at least a 2-week break once a year. You should leave everything behind and make the most of this free time you have. That’s hard nowadays when we are more and more connected with internet, smart phones, etc. But you simply have to try it! And in some cases you also need some time on your own. Big family driving you crazy? Well, have a nice talk with them and explaining your needs: you need a weekend off!
Life is too short?
We all know that we should enjoy life. But do we really do it? Lot’s of people have very stressful jobs and they don’t even question their way of life. Are you happy doing what you do?
I understand that sometimes we don’t have a choice. We are older, will be hard to get a new job, plenty of young people ready to work flooding the market every year, etc. When we take this scenario is even clearer the need for holidays! You are spending most of your day (and life!) doing something that you are not entirely happy with and still are not getting any time off? How bad and sad is that?
Not clear about when or what you should do about it? The time is now. And the first step is choosing your destination. Then you budget accordingly and start saving. If you are planing a long trip, try to do it in a year time. As I said before, life is too short and we never really know what’s around the corner. Enjoy!
